A little fun, so we can get to know who is who and get a feel for who we are.
Name: Eddie D Hometown: New Orleans, LA Where living now: Athens, Alabama..
Describe your hockey fandom: Love the game, which I lived closer to NHL or even an AHL team.
How long have you been playing Fantasy hockey: Apparently 1989-90, in the famed MIHL, which is still running today. I took a break in 2001, and came back to the MIHL last season. Several ESPN leagues.
Favorite NHL Team(s): Grew up a Caps fan, closest southern team to NOLA and my grandma was from Northern Virginia. Moved to Hartford, and got to see about 10 Caps' games in DC, NJ, and Boston, and about 20 AHL games in that time. Now that I'm 90 minutes from Nashville I follow the Preds. But as a kid, I also liked Chicago - Stan Mikita and Bobby Hull were cool dudes, then Denis Savard and the spinnerama. When Shanahan took over Toronto, I started following them. Would be nice to see that team be successful again.
Hockey experience: Really good at Stiga hockey. Played floor hockey in college - we won league, I was league's top scorer. Did Public Address announcing for 9 ECHL New Orleans Brass games.
Favorite teams in other sports: New Orleans Saints, Washington Nationals and Chicago Cubs, Juventus, Borussia Mönchengladbach, West Ham, Hibernian FC. LSU Tigers.
Favorite sport to play: Volleyball. Wish we had a pro league in the US.
Favorite food: Pizza. Thin crust is best, but give me Neapolitan style and that wins every time.

Name: Devin B Hometown: Binghamton, New York Where living now: Raleigh, North Carolina
Describe your hockey fandom: Just recently within the last 8 years I fell in love with hockey. Before that I never liked hockey...now I can't get enough.
How long have you been playing Fantasy hockey: 2011...now I have too many teams lol
Favorite NHL Team(s): Carolina Hurricanes. Never liked hockey until I moved South (you don't usually hear that haha) and moved to North Carolina so the Hurricanes became my favorite team. Also, I worked for the Hurricanes AHL team for a year in Charlotte.
Hockey experience: Played a bunch of pond hockey with friends growing up. I wish I would have actually played.
Favorite teams in other sports: Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Braves, LA Lakers, NC State Wolfpack, and also a fan of UFC
Favorite sport to play: I love to play golf. Also enjoy playing football and basketball.
Favorite food: Pizza. NY style pizza...the big slice thin crust kind that you have to fold in half to eat.

Name: David [redacted] Hometown: Brantford, ON Current: Mississauga, ON
Fandom: first started rooting for the Leafs during the '93 playoffs. Pops brought me to a game in the East semis vs the Blues. They won, that's all i remember, and since then i've been a rabid Leaf fan. Sometimes i hate them, sometimes i can't stand our fans, but i'll always bleed blue
Fantasy hockey: since high school. Then in around Sundin's last season got really into it and have been playing keeper league as a major interest since about 2010.
Favourite NHL team: Leafs. nothing else matters.
Hockey experience: grew up playing hockey in Brantford. Fun, but true fact: Walter Gretzky was a family friend and he used to bring me to a local rink and give me pointers in skating and shooting. Didn't really know he was Wayne's dad until i moved out of Brantford, haha. Also played AAA GTHL (streetsville tigers wupwup) and in my year of OHL draft eligibility got a completely brutal concussion and had to hang em up. still play in rec leagues once every couple years, though. Play shinny every winter on the pond near my house too.
Favourite teams in other sports: Raptors, LA Clippers, Jays, Jacksonville Jaguars (going to my first game this season!), JUVENTUS, Niagara Ice Dogs (i refuse to acknowledge that sham of an OHL team they call the "Steelheads" ugh worst name in sports).
Favourite sport to play: hockey, then soccer (i play goalie on a team with a lot of friends, we've been going 8 seasons straight now) then golf (+12 handicap)

Hey team,
Name: Cal Hometown: Auckland, New Zealand Currently living in: Auckland, New Zealand (I'm hardly ever there because of work)
Hockey experience: Started following hockey in 2001, I haven't played a lot of hockey as rugby consumed most of my sporting life for many years. But I managed to play a whole lot when I live in Canada for a couple of years.
Favorite hockey teams: Tampa Bay Lightning, been obsessed with them since 2001, finally got to attend some Lightning games in January! Victoria Royals (WHL).
Favorite sports teams: All Blacks, Auckland Blues and the New York Knicks
Favorite sport to play: Rugby, played 1 league below professional for 3 seasons before injuries and life occurred. Also spent a season in Canada's top league as an import (best year of my life).
Favorite food: I tried deep dish pizza in San Diego of all places. I fell in love with it and went back every day for a week.
Three random facts: I'm a coffee connoisseur/snob, I hate Trump and I plan on breaking the world record for watching a full NHL game at every NHL arena in the shortest amount of time. Current record stands at 28 days something..

Name: Andrew Hometown: Ottawa, ON Current: Ottawa, ON
Fandom: Being from Ottawa I've always been a sens fan, but I never truly appreciated them until maybe 5-6 years ago. Now I'm your typical fan who's week is easily ruined by a bad game or two.
Fantasy hockey: I've been a fan of fantasy, both NHL and NFL, for the last 5-6 years. This was my first keeper league and instantly became hooked. Since joining this league I've recruited a few of my friends to create two other keeper leagues (NHL/NFL), haven't looked back!
Favourite NHL team: Sens. Buffalo's creeping up behind them actually, but (for now) the Sens are without a doubt my favourite team.
Hockey experience: I've played hockey since I was 6 years old, always loved the game and still get excited when I have a game scheduled in a few hours.
Favourite teams in other sports: Can my other fantasy teams count? What about golfers (I'm a BIG fan of Phil Mickelson)? If we're sticking to strictly "teams" then I've taken a liking to the Cleveland Browns for some odd reason, but I never see them play as NFL broadcast is pretty inconsistent for which teams are playing on TV here in Ottawa. I guess after the Sens and Sabres I don't really have any other favourite teams that I'm emotionally invested in. I'll root for the Jays and Raptors but I don't watch more than 10 of their regular season games collectively.
Favourite sport to play: As of late I'd say Golf is a sport I've become pretty passionate about. I started playing this year and it's a great time, it's just a damn shame I suck (110-120 on 18 LOL). Aside from that I really enjoy hockey (obviously) and also football. Tennis ain't that bad either...
Three random facts: 1. As of late I head up to Buffalo every year to watch the Bills play with about 10-15 friends. 2. I'm not sure I'd be able to name 5 player on the Buffalo Bills. 3. I view investing in stocks as a sport and find it pretty fun.

Name: Adam Hometown: Los Angeles, CA Where living now: Berkeley, CA (summer internship)
Describe your hockey fandom: Love at first sight. Caught my first hockey game with family and friends when I was seven or so and became a rabid Kings fan. I'm still a rabid Kings fan, but perhaps a bit more tame -- not getting caught up in single (regular-season) wins and losses. Keeps me sane, y'know? Over the years, I think I've become more interested in drafting and development as well as the asset management aspects of the game. Regardless, I am and always will be a fan of the game.
How long have you been playing Fantasy Hockey: Since the 2008-2009 season, after which I elected to keep Mike Green over Steven Stamkos.
Favorite NHL Team(s): The Kings, like I mentioned. I actually went to school with one of Luc Robitaille's kids, who became the kids' school President in 5th grade. As a part of his campaign, he asked his dad (Luc) to bring in Sean Avery to speak to us. He did, and Avery talked to us for awhile, and everyone asked him questions about fighting. It was awkward, great, and memorable. To this day, my best friend's dad is really close with Luc, and he treats us every once in a while.
Hockey experience: Not much, just some street hockey, mostly in middle school. After I graduate and save up some cash, I think I'm gonna get myself some goalie pads and give 'tending a shot.
Favorite teams in other sports: UCLA Bruins (I'm a student there)
Favorite sport to play: Soccer
Favorite food: I'm a near-vegan, so my options are somewhat limited, but I'll say pasta with sauce and herbs.

Name: Matt
Pokemon Master
Describe your hockey fandom: Put it this way, the first time I ever laced them up I was 2 and my Dad carried me to centre ice at Maple Leaf Gardens and the first time I touched the ice was at the face-off circle. Pretty damn cool. I talk about sports too much, everyone that knows me knows I can sit and talk about sports for hours on end.
How long have you been playing Fantasy hockey: First time ever playing fantasy hockey I was 7-8 years old and it was my dads playoff pool at his work. I made all my own picks and I won it that year and my dad had a story to laugh at all his friends about. I made this league four-years-ago because I was in a league very similar to this one but the commissioner would disappear for weeks on end and it turned into chaos. I do yearly pools with family, friends and a playoff bracket with the girlfriend.
Favorite NHL Team(s): Maple Leafs, obviously.
Hockey experience: Ice Hockey never went far, play mens league with my friends and we're entering our 5th season! Ball hockey I am a 4x League Champion, 2x Playoff MVP and have won 3 Provincial Trophies for Ontario. Haven't played in a long time, though. This was from about 10-16/17.
Favorite teams in other sports: AC MILAN, Raptors, Jays, Real Madrid, London Knights, PSG (Only for Thiago Silva and Ibra but since Ibra left i'll follow United)
Favorite sport to play: All of them, you name it i'll play it!
Favorite food: A nice steak with some vino goes a long way.

Name: Kyle aka The World's Greatest
Born: Colorado Springs, CO Hometown: Royal Oak, MI Residence: Hermosa Beach, CA Age: 30
How long have I been playing fantasy hockey: Yahoo & ESPN leagues for years, but this is my first hockey dynasty league. I'm in two football dynasty leagues so let's see how well I transition.
How long have I been playing real hockey: Starting playing when I was 3 years old. Played Div. 1 High School and Midget AA before playing beer league hockey while at Michigan State University (Go Green!). When I moved to California 7 years ago I went almost 5 years without putting on ice skates. Played one game with Space Lord's team and got banned from the league. Played pickup a few times here and there but don't have the time to join a team and commit.
Favorite NHL Team(s): Detroit Red Wings & Los Angeles Kings
Favorite hockey memory: When I was about 13 years old I played house hockey for this team ran by a coach who was the financial adviser for the Red Wings. One practice he had Steve Yzerman come out and skate around/shoot with us. I ended up sitting next to him in the locker room after practice and talked to him and had him sign about every single thing I had in my possession at the time (plus I brought about 10 Yzerman items with me).
Other Favorite Sports Teams: Michigan State Spartans, Detroit Tigers, Golden State Warriors, Detroit Lions (sigh), Detroit Pistons, LA Clippers, LA Dodgers, Colorado Rockies
Favorite Food: Sushi and a good ole American Hamburger w. Bacon. I also drink way too much red wine. My favorite liqueur is Sambuca... yep you read that right.
Random Facts: (a) I've ran in 5 marathons and 11 half-marathons and still don't understand why because I get so pissed off while I run (b) I'm an Attorney yet I hate going to Court (c) I live one block from the ocean and don't know how to surf and (d) If I could move anywhere and never come back it would be Santorini, Greece.

The things you learn. Sushi and a hamburger, what a combo, add the Sambuca and you've got the beginnings of a big mess.
Attorney - my bro is the same. Does not like it.
What did you do to get banned from the league?

haha, I got banned from the league basically for just scoring too quickly two times in the first period. I was a bit too good for their division and the other team made a big fuss about it. I'm only 5 foot 7 so those giants on the other team were just cranky.

that is awesome! my floor hockey league in college was similar - dude asked me where I was from. Me: Metairie (Suburb of New Orleans) Him: Oh?!? We heard you played Juniors in Canada Me: Oh yeah, that was before I came home for college. Game was over with that line. PS- I was leading goal scorer and point man. I think I had a hat-trick in every game

Just wanted to update this thread. My son moved to Chicago in July, sent me a Blackhawks t-shirt for Christmas and apparently I'm getting another one this week for my birthday. His fiancee wants to take us to a Cubs game if we go up for Memorial Day weekend.
